Renaming a Contact Group

Viewing the Members of a Group Quickly

Sometimes you just need to quickly check who is in a group without opening it for editing. There are a couple of ways to do this. In your "People" pane, simply clicking once on the Contact Group will often show its members in the reading pane on the right. Alternatively, when you are composing an email and have added the group to the "To" field, you might see a small plus sign (+) next to the group's name. Clicking this will expand the list and show you all the individual members right in the email draft.

Updating a Member's Contact Information

It's important to understand that a Contact Group stores a link to the contact records of its members, not a separate copy of their email addresses. This is a very powerful feature. It means that if you update a person's email address in your main Outlook Contacts, it will be automatically updated in every Contact Group they are a member of. This centralized management saves you from having to update their information in multiple places, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all your group lists.
