I must first apologize to the loyal audience of the site for the fact that the site has not been updated for a while, somewhere I was busy eating my hat about the quality and size of the new Galit Skatepark in Tel Aviv but mainly riding my skate in this amazing place! Well, accept my forgiveness...
My world has recently changed, I enjoy riding my skate like I haven't in a long time, I see people around me shining and smiling, no, it's not due to some chemical effect, it's due to a new and refreshing place that allows us skaters to ride in a more correct and challenging way and to appreciate the municipal power of the area in which we live, this power is called the Tel Aviv Municipality , not the Jerusalem Municipality .
I have been a Tel Avivian for almost eight years, but most of my days I spent as a true Jerusalemite who managed to survive days, weeks and long years of cultural dryness mixed with the rotten scent of religion and politics. It won't help that I'm still a Jerusalemite inside and my tongue isn't yet glued to my cheek. Only in Jerusalem is a friend a friend and only in Jerusalem is there real hummus, but my patience is running out over the years...
Not much happens in Jerusalem, the skate park in Sacer Park (the place where I grew up) is going to close in the next few years on its 20th birthday! And beyond a ridiculous cosmetic renovation, nothing has email data there, neither there nor anywhere else in the city, children thirsty for challenge and faith go out on a daily basis to find the perfect spot (ride place) or to win a few moments of fame in places protected by security and without a respectable "home base", the result in the end is a slow death for the sport...
This is where the element of stubbornness and survival that I spoke about earlier comes in. The faithful of the sport do not see this as an obstacle, and quite the opposite is true. They maintain the embers in an amazing way and are even known throughout the country for their skills and perseverance. Respect!
The Jerusalem Municipality does not know about their existence, which is a shame. They do not understand that this sport is unique, different, challenging, and above all, reflects a modern perception and an alternative approach to the environment. Enough with the desolate plastic facilities, enough with the orphaned basketball courts, enough with the statues of bears/penguins/lions, enough for the hell of it! Build a normal skatepark, you will not understand the power of a professional skatepark (emphasis on professional) and the power it provides to such an important section of the population = the young .
Scar Garden Skatepark Jerusalem
The skatepark in Jerusalem is criminally neglected, bordering on endangering the children and youth
who come there. Sometimes, out of desperation, the skaters themselves sweep and clean.
Skateboarding - Skatepark - SKATEBOARDING ISRAEL
The "tribune" area of the Gan Saker skatepark requires clown crutches to
reach.
Almost every young Jerusalemite aged 23 and over impatiently plans his move to Tel Aviv. It's a matter of education from a young age. It's a matter of lack of connection. There's no point in staying. What can be done?
A skatepark nourishes the soul of the athletic citizen, brings him home with a smile and gives him the medicine after a hard day's work. It employs tens of thousands of children and youth during periods of free time and strikes (like the one we have at the time of writing these words - it's been a month and a half already!). And you'd be surprised, it also brings curious tourists from all over Israel and the world who talk about it and spread the word to their friends. I can point out that skateboarding in many places in the world is on the same popularity list as basketball and soccer. Today, there is no skatepark in Jerusalem. There is a facility with a lot of soul but no interest or challenge.
Galit Skatepark
Cracker 5-0 on the perfect rail, the hot name in the Israeli skateboarding world,
skatepark Angry
the "little" pole at Galit Skatepark, a perfect facility to spend
entire weeks of challenging and interesting training, especially for beginners.
